Creative Collection #4 – Australia Special

by Leanne Watkinson

Let me once again take you through the creative landscape that’s inspiring us here at Thompson Brand Partners – all the way from down under!

  • Nathan Nankervis

Freelance Graphic Artist and Illustrator Nathan just wants his work to make people smile! He only graduated a few short years ago, but already counts Heineken and Red Bull amongst his clients and has been presented with a raft of design awards. Some people are just good…

Check out: everything, but I particularly like his illustrations for Voiceworks.

  • Studio Brave

This studio may be small, but they create some big, brave graphics (see what I did there?). Founded in 2002 by Tim Sutherland, they are inspired by “challenging convention and exceeding expectations through brave thinking, approach and execution”.

Check out: 42 Wills Street for clean, simple and effective use of beautiful textures and materials, proving that things don’t have to be all singing and dancing to make an impact.

  • SouthSouthWest

This group of positive thinkers believe in fast work to create amazing results, and strive to create meaningful change through the design work they undertake.

Check out: Some beautiful art direction for the 2015 Eat Drink Design Awards and a clean, accessible rebrand and web design for The Design Files, Australia’s leading design and lifestyle blog.

  • Parallax

This bunch believe in simple, logical design that disrupts the status quo. And they have a caravan in their office. There’s not much about them on their website, choosing instead to let their work do the talking. It says good things.

Check out: Shaw Family Vinters for simple, rustic yet up-market wine labels. I’d definitely pick this off the shelf.

  • Alter

As their name might suggest, Alter is all about change. They want their work to be inventive and enjoyable, and able to serve both business and community. Their work definitely puts a smile on my face.

Check out: Bonnie and Neil for some bright and juicy identity design.

  • three60

An award-winning agency specialising in fashion, luxury and lifestyle brands, their clients include Nike, Jigsaw and The Woolmark Company to name but a few. Every one of their projects is packed with understated style and taste.

Check out: Strateas Carlucci for Men. Created for a collection titled ‘Indigital’, this work showcases the juxtaposition between nature and urban modernity.

That’s all for this month! See you next month for another Creative Collection – as always, feel free to comment with your own suggestions for us to feature.
